Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Magner Center for Career Development and Internships to assist Brooklyn College students and alumni to develop the skills necessary to attain their lifelong career goals. The Center's professional and friendly staff provides comprehensive career services enabling students to apply their academic knowledge and personal values to the world of work. Through partnerships with employers and the college's academic faculty and staff, students are offered the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to thrive in today's globally interdependent world. Based on the continuing assessment of its programs and knowledge of an ever changing work place, the Magner Center develops new strategies and innovative practices to meet students' career goals. Students are prepared to develop responsive and responsible careers in the communities in which they live.
Students are invited to actively forge their own career paths through participation in career activities centered on:
- Creating personal career profiles
- Identifying academic majors and career goals
- One-on-one career counseling
- Participating in a wide-range of valuable internships
- Developing marketable professional skills
- Devising professional resumes and practicing interviewing skills
- Networking with employers
- Finding appropriate alumni and career mentors
